Flood 2008

53 Counties: Declared Disaster Areas
3,912 Homes: Asked to evacuate in Cedar Rapids
Curfews: IMposed in the hard-hit areas of CR
Coralville:Areas ordered to evacuate
640 Guardsmen: Activated statewide

This is soo crazy and so unbelievable. You can't drive anywhere without seeing this flood and how its impacted so many.

Heres some pictures of just our backyard after today.

Its kinda hard to see but the picture above is of a bench in our neighbors yard that this morning was completly under water but has emerged a little bit since then.

Last night for church we went and helped sandbag out by Palo. Today many were evacuated from there. We only worked for about an hour and we got a ton done. Today after work a couple of my friends and I are gonna drive up to MT. Vernon and help sandbag somemore. I would hope if my home was in disaster that others would come help me. If you don't know this is a record flood and really scary. They've evacuated people to middleschools, and its getting worse. Reality check in my life, and I'm grateful I just have this small river in my backyard opposed to my house being under water like others.
Heres some more pictures of the flood

This is a picture of the inmates of Vinton being boated across to a middleschool to evacuate to

This was the cover of our paper today. This is in Vinton where some boys are carrying out there belongings. The guys in yellow is representing mormons:) We wore those yesterday. This picture was taken of the missionaries! This is a bridge in Cedar Rapids yesterday. Its much worse today.

As I'm writing this its pouring outside. I gotta go to work but I'll keep this updated with more on my life and this ridiculous flood.
